Answers to questions

1. There are a lot of things I achieved during the school days, which was 6 months. I learned useful math skills. I learned about history in humanity class as well. For me, Paleolithic age and Neolithic age was the unit that I had most enjoyed. These are the greatest achievements for me in 6 months in school. I made an achievement for being social. In elementary school, you can only be friends with your classmates because the classes rarely meet. Unlike elementary school, in middle school, you have 8 subjects and each class has different friends so you have more chance of having many friends. I think those are the achievements that I made.

2. I learned many skills in each subject. For math, I learned how to convert a decimal to fraction. I also learned the vocabulary about geometry, but the palindrome was the thing that I most enjoyed. For humanity, I learned about Mesopotamia, first 4 empires, Paleolithic , Neolithic , hominids and much more. I loved every things in humanity. In science, I learned fancy words that are used in science such like convection, mass, volume, fluid and others. Even though the test was kind of challenging for me, I think I enjoyed a lot too. P.E was one of the subject that I enjoyed too. I had badminton, pickleball, basketball, kickball and much more. I think every subjects were fun.

3. There are not really many skills that I want to learn because I already did during 6 months. Still, I have some. In P.E, I want to learn to play soccer. In humanity, I really want to know about Persians. There are nothing to learn about science and math because as I said above, I learned a lot. I think those are only skills that I want to learn.

4. Goals for this next year is to study a lot more and read a lot of books that can help me finish ESL and be a normal student.

Literature Circle Feedback

I guess this is my last blog post about Literature circle. Here is my answers to the questions.
Actually, even though I like the discussions, the book was not really interesting. His future was too obvious and also, I was sometimes curious about the next chapter but most of the time, I was sure that Brian will do this and do that because at the last page of the chapter, the book briefly tells you what is going to happen in next chapter. Still there was my favorite part. It is when Brian uses his hatchet to make a fire. Nothing else was interesting. I think this book is trying to tell the readers that if you try something to do really hard, you succeed it. After the talking with other groups, I want to read Julie and the wolves, because that is what I wanted to read at first, and everyone was saying that Charlotte Doyle is too hard and Thunder cave is boring.

Final Discussion (Letter to Brian)

Dear Brian,

Hi Brian, I'm Tommy. I've read a book, hatchet. I'm really glad that you were survived. Everytime I read the book, I was always nervous because you were doing dangerous things. I have several questions to ask you. If you can, please answer my questions. First, why did you try to kill that porcupine? If you had left it alone, it could have gone. Also, why do you think the author picked you as the main character? do you have something special about survival? My last question is, are you really 13 years old? because from the title page, you look really mature and also your survival skills are great as if you are an adult. Please send me back your reply later.

Cheer!! by Tommy

Literature Circles Discussion 3

As the book went on, Literature Circles Discussion was getting more exciting. Brian had a lot of changes, and as me as a reader, I think the changes made me more interested in the book. Before he landed on the inhabited island, he wasn't brave and strong enough to survive and overcome the dangers. He knew that he was alone and he would have to do everything by himself, which made him stronger and braver. He had to get food, he had to make fire, he needed to go to lake to drink water and others. For example, when there is no one to help you in the fire, and when you survive, the next time you are in the fire, you can get out of it easier and faster because you already had experienced once. But, when you haven't experienced it and someone had helped you before, then you will have a lot of problems getting out of fire and might die. I think it is same as this example because before Brian haven't experienced to do something, he was always having problems, but next time he did, it was easy for him to do it. I think the changes of Brian is really important and it is making the book addictive.

Literature Circles Discussion 2

Even though I wished to have one more discussion, I forgot to finish my discussion sheet, which means that I have nothing to write. I couldn't discuss with my groups about passages, questions and vocabulary. I promise that I won't forget my discussion sheet ever next time. SORRY MS.NARSIMAN!

Literature Circles Discussion

Literature Circles Discussion helped me a lot with understanding of the novel. I understand the story of the novel so far and the discussion had helped me a lot with this. By the discussion, I learned hard vocabulary, I could now guess the characteristic of the characters as well. I also had many connections and a few predictions.

I would say that this discussion, was the best way for me to understand all about the novel. During the discussion, group members discussed about the chapters, questions and vocabulary. Especially discussing questions, supported me to predict the rest of the story. My prediction was that Brian will be left alone in the jungle and he would have to use a hatchet that his mom gave it to him, to survive and overcome. The questions, assisted me to think of connections. My connections is that I have rode the plane when I was 8 years old in Canada like Brian did.

If I hadn't had a discussion, I could have had many difficulties understanding the novel. I wish that if I can, I want to have one more chance to discuss with other people that are having trouble with understanding the novel, then I can come up with more improved explanation of the chapters, questions and vocabulary so that I can also help them.

Beautiful thing to have 'Courage'

The time when I showed my courage was happened when I was 9 years old. It was summer vacation and my friends was having a sleep-over. We went to the amusement park. It was my first time being inside the amusement park. My heart was pounding so fast and I was just excited but also worried. The day before the day, I saw people died while they were riding a roller coster, because the roller coster fell down. I was too scared to ride. My friends were showing off that they can ride a roller coster without holding the bar that is in front of them. But I showed the courage. I was thinking that this time would be the last time riding a roller coster so I did. I maybe blinked 5 times then the roller coster had finished. I thought it would be so long. It was same feeling as having a shot in the hospital. Always finishes in 5 blinks and the pain is gone. It was exactly same as that.
Bearing to scream, fear,,, in 5 seconds, they are nothing. And that is the power of the courage.
As I grow up, I got to know that the courage is really beautiful thing that people can have.

The Success!!

Today's homework is to answer Ms.Narsimen's questions. The successes that I have had was that I got three A+ from Humanity, Science and Math. (Currently, Math is A) That inspired me so much because those A+ was my first A+ form the subjects. Also I have learnt lots of words that I haven't known. I also got improved in grammar than last year. This is my 2nd year of ISKL and I am proud of myself that I had improved a lot on English. I actually didn't like English class when I was in Melawati, but I started to like it from when I went to Ampang Campus.
The things that I know that I need to work haredr on is to focus more in the class, listen to teacher, finish my homework on the time and bring the stuffs that you will need for the class. I am guessing that these are going to be easier when I get to it by the time, but for 3 or 4 months, I will have to try my best. I really like my friends and teachers in ISKL. So far, I'm thinking as a student in ISKL is pretty happy.

Today's homework was to decide what kind of Social Scienctist I want to be. I want to be Archaeologist. I have many reasons to tell you why. I want to be a Geographer as well, but since I got to know that they draw maps, I gave up to be a Geographer. First reason that I want to be a Archaeologist is that I like traveling, so that I can travel around the world. I liked traveling even I was young. Another reason is that I like finding and searching. I used to dig the sandbox for fun when I was young. I was happy when I get something like stones, piece of glass, or etc. I even investigated about what I got from the sandbox by using my dad's computer. For another reason, I really like digging. I even want to dig the world. I learned how to use shovel when I was 2th grade in the Korean school and that even became my favorite habbit. The last reason that I want to be an Archaeologist is that I think I will be so proud of myself when I got something after digging. Even while I was writing this, I think being an arcaheologist is so nice.
