YOU HAVE A POWER TO NAME YOUR OWN LIFE

A Tennis Racket, Ball, Deck of cards, Running shoe, Red hat, I-pod, Picture of my family, Pencil case and Book

There are variety of reasons why I chose these objects that represent my life. I picked a tennis racket, one of my objects, because it shows that I really like playing tennis and it reminds me of the first year that I came to to Malaysia because that is when I started to learn playing tennis. I really wish to be in IASAS when I become a high-school student.

I chose a ball and a running shoe because they show that I like playing sports. I like playing any kinds of sports because they make me forget about being stressed. It feels like I have nothing to worry about, when I am playing sports. And now in ISKL, I get to play more kinds of sports than Korean school, so I get to enjoy sports more now.

I also chose a red hat, from 5th grade because I was really proud of myself that I was actually at the top of elementary school. I could be the one who can warn people when they do something wrong and I can even be an announcer to tell the students, a plan for the day. Whenever I see the red hat, it always reminds me of how fun it was, being a red hat in elementary school.

Then below a red hat, there is a deck of cards. I wasn't interested in card magic tricks, but after I came to Malaysia, I suddenly found that card magic tricks are really cool. One day, when I was in Melawati Campus, I went to an assembly and watched a magician who showed us card and coin magics. And from that, I got interested in magics, and that is why I have put it.

Along with these, I have also put down an i-pod. It is my second treasure of my life because when I am bored, I could play with it and I can show it off to my friends. It is also a second treasure because I bought it by the money that was from my grandmother. I got the money because it was my birthday and my grandmother said it was a birthday gift.

Additionally, I have a watch. I started wearing it from when I was in 5th grade and I still wear them to school. It also reminds me of my 5th grade school life, just like a red hat. It was also a gift from grandmother in law, and since she was living in Japan, she bought many watches for me and my brothers (My grandmother said there are a lot of watches in Japan). I accidentally have lost it one time, but I was so relieved that I could find it again.

Besides, I have chosen a book that is for kids who are under 8 years old. Before I came to Malaysia, I had to study English so that thee wouldn't be any problem speaking, writing or listening in school. And when I was studying in Korea, the book was the first English book that I have ever read in my life. Even though it was for little kids, it was really hard for me to understand, because I wasn't used to reading English books. But now, it feels like it is too easy for me. I wish my English improves a lot more than now.

A pencil case, is a gift from my best friend who is in England now. He and I was so close like brothers, so that we couldn't even feel that we were friends. One day, my family decided to come to Malaysia and my best friend to England. Even though it was really sad for me and him, we had to be separated from each other. But now, even we are apart from each other, this pencil case from my best friend, always make me think of him in England, and that is the reason I chose it.

I have put a picture of my family, too. My first treasure of my life is family, and that is why I put a picture of my family. I think that, since they treat me and protect me as a treasure, I should also treat my family like a treasure. When there is a fire in my home and I would have to escape from my house, I will take my family out first, and other objects next because if I lose those ten objects, I wouldn't be as much as losing my family.

THE ORDINARY MAN IS INVOLVED IN ACTION, THE HERO ACTS - HENRY MILLER

The Ordinary Man is involved in Action, The Hero Acts. -From Henry Miller

There is a reason why I chose this quote : the quote had a deep meaning inside. First, I thought it just meant that ordinary people just live the normal life and the hero acts for their quests. So I skipped this quote first and I looked for other kinds of quotes that would have deeper meaning than this quote. But even I searched almost all the pages about hero, there really wasn't any quote that was better than this. Others were all long and most of them meant personally nothing for me. So I decided to use this quote and I suddenly got the deeper meaning of this quote. The part that says 'the hero acts' seduced me the most. That part showed that this quote makes sense. Then I suddenly got the deeper meaning of it. It is really true that ordinary people just live thier own normal lives and that heroes act. Heroes are courageous and brave to act for the justice. But ordinary people just get involved and do nothing. And that is why I chose this quote for my blog.

COMPLIMENTS CAN CHANGE SOMETHING

After reading the article and watching the video, I felt that the compliment can be really powerful. And it also made me think of one connection I had. When I was young, I always wanted to show off whatever I did, to my mom or dad. And I enjoyed showing off to them because mom or dad always said something good about me. When I draw something, my parents would come to my room and say 'My son is a great artist!'. And my mom and dad's compliments always made me feel really good. Probably, that is why I still believe that the compliments can be powerful. Even for the people who are sad you can say something good to them, so they can smile and not even think about the sad things that happened to them. It is really easy to make them be happy again if you know how to say really good things.

I also think that the word compliment is a magic word. You can make anyone laugh or smile with compliments. Just like what the video showed. When those compliment guys said something good to the students in the Perdue university, everyone who heard a good thing about them, laughed and appreciated it. And that really proves how magical and amazing the power of the word compliment is. Another proof is that I have felt the happiness before and I still do. From teachers, parents and friends, I get compliments at least one in two days. I think that the compliments are the happiest thing to be heard.

Why did I choose that picture? While I was searching for a picture that would match my blog post, and that picture caught me on the first sight. It shows that you can smile when you hear good things about you. The 'you' might not have the meaning that I am thinking of, but for me, the 'you' means the compliments. And that is why I chose this picture.

CONNECTING TO A GLBAL TRIBE

Read Matt Harding's Connecting to a Global Tribe after watching the video clip below. Read and be inspired by Matt's essay and at the same time note how he starts, the personal experiences he describes, his conclusion that connects to a deeper idea. Identify what he values.Respond in your blog

After I read his essay, I was so surprised that even Matt Harding is not a professional writer, he could write a really good essay. He first had he topic sentence, which hooked me up and made me feel curious what he was going to talk about. Then he started a paragraph about his backpacking trip, and how he started to think that people in the world want to get connected to each other. And I think that is the description of his personal experience. For his conclusion paragraph, I first thought that the paragraph was too short to be a good conclusion paragraph. But it was actually really amazing. I think it was because his previous paragraphs already had enough reasons why he thinks that, and that was why I could have understood the conclusion paragraph better. And also I think it actually looked like he was having another reason for his essay. Even it was another reason for his essay, it was kind of connecting to his other reasons and I think that is how he could write a great conclusion paragraph. From this essay, I could notice that Matt Harding, do value the connection of people in the world. He really hopes that people can connect to each other and that dancing would make people to be connected more closer to each other.
